Kids in Parks Opens their first TRACK Trail in a Virginia State Park
Claytor Lake State Park
The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation’s Kids in Parks program celebrated the grand opening of their 9th TRACK Trail on July 23rd at Claytor Lake State Park in Dublin, Virginia. This new TRACK Trail links Claytor Lake State Park and Virginia’s State Parks to the Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina State Parks, and our network of TRACK Trail locations.
“The Claytor Lake TRACK Trail is our first in a Virginia State Park”, said Jason Urroz, Director of the Kids in Parks program… “and, definitely not our last.” Joe Elton, Director of Virginia State Parks said during the ceremony, “This is the first of three dozen or more TRACK Trails we hope to partner with the Foundation on.”
By installing TRACK Trails in Virginia State Parks, we are expanding our network of TRACK Trails and creating more opportunities for kids to connect with nature. When kids and families visit the Kids in Parks website (www.kidsinparks.com), they will see the other trails in the region and have a desire to visit those locations as well… connecting kids, families and communities to the Parkway, State Parks, public lands and the wonder of nature.
