Meet the Trail TRACKers of the Month
What's your favorite TRACK Trail? Why?
- Micaiah: "Woods Creek, Lexington because I love going over the bridges and playing in the creek."
- Liberty: "Lick Run Greenway. It was beautiful and had several playgrounds."
- Ebenezer: "James River Visitor Center. I loved the bridge and checking out the canal lock."
- Israel: "Natural Bridge. I like playing at the children's discovery area after the hike."
What's your favorite TRACK Trail brochure adventure?
- Micaiah: "Birds - I like learning how to identify them."
- Liberty: "Birds - I was really excited to learn some types of birds."
- Ebenezer: "Johnson Farm brochure because it was interesting."
- Israel: "Dragon Quest because I like dragons."
What's the most exciting wildlife you've seen on a TRACK Trail?
- Micaiah: "A Falcon!"
- Liberty: "Birds that I could identify."
- Ebenezer: "A snake in the water at McCormick Farm."
- Israel: "Birds of prey!"
What's the longest hike you've ever done?
- ALL: "The Blue Ridge Tunnel in Crozet, Virginia." (4.6-mile out-and-back)
What is the coolest trail experience you've ever had?
- Micaiah: "Walking on a frozen lake at Rocky Mountain National Park."
- Liberty: "Seeing a mom and baby moose at Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park."
- Ebenezer: "Hiking through thick fog at Johnson Farm at Peaks of Otter."
- Israel: "Jumping from stump to stump at McCormick Farm."
If you could hike anywhere in the world, where would you go?
- Micaiah: "Saguaro National Park because I really want to see a real saguaro cactus."
- Liberty: "I'd like to hike in Utah."
- Ebenezer: "Florida Everglades."
- Israel: "I'd like to hike on a frozen lake."
Do you have any tips for other Trail TRACKers?
- Micaiah: "Keep your eyes and ears open - you never know what you might see."
- Liberty: "I bring an adventure bag. It has water, snacks, a butterfly net, binoculars, a handheld microscope, a whistle, a hand-crank flashlight, and a notebook and colored pencils."
- Ebenezer: "Watch out and pay attention."
- Israel: No tip!
